<a title="In one of the first stages of manufacturing, the FX Long gollf ball's core material is extruded into a long cylindrical shape, which is then cut into small slices. In this photo the cylindrical slices, which have been stacked into trays, are being loaded into a press, where they will be heated and compressed into spherical forms." rel="lightbox[BP2Tour092608]" href="http://media.pinnaclegolf.com/blog_CONTENT/images/BP2Tour092608/blog_2_BPIITour.jpg"></a><a title="In a separate process, the cover material was injection molded into two cup-shaped halves. The golf ball cores are then heat-welded inside the cover material cups. The molds in which the balls are heat-welded are contoured with inverse dimples, so that when the balls come out of the process in the sheets you see above, they are dimpled!" rel="lightbox[BP2Tour092608]" href="http://media.pinnaclegolf.com/blog_CONTENT/images/BP2Tour092608/blog_4_BPIITour.jpg"></a><a title="Here, Rastko takes a ball out of the matrix sheet for closer inspection. These rough golf balls have considerable residual material that must be precisely removed in later finishing processes." rel="lightbox[BP2Tour092608]" href="http://media.pinnaclegolf.com/blog_CONTENT/images/BP2Tour092608/blog_5_BPIITour.jpg"></a><a title="Here, Art Sellinger witnesses one of these subsequent finishing processes. This is to ensure that no hair or stray fibers interfere with the stamping and painting steps coming up." rel="lightbox[BP2Tour092608]" href="http://media.pinnaclegolf.com/blog_CONTENT/images/BP2Tour092608/blog_6_BPIITour.jpg"></a><a title="The stamping process, where the golf balls receive the Pinnacle Gold logo, as well as the FX Long sidestamp and number stamp." rel="lightbox[BP2Tour092608]" href="http://media.pinnaclegolf.com/blog_CONTENT/images/BP2Tour092608/blog_7_BPIITour.jpg"></a><a title="After stamping, the FX Long golf balls are smooth, but do not yet have that glossy feel of a finished golf ball." rel="lightbox[BP2Tour092608]" href="http://media.pinnaclegolf.com/blog_CONTENT/images/BP2Tour092608/blog_8_BPIITour.jpg"></a><a title="For that shiny, finished appearance, the ball must move to the painting phase.
